The Story of Pickle and Scott
Romeo and Juliet. Johnny and June. Scott and Pickle. We are talking real love stories here.
Pickle entered Small But Mighty Rescue in the Spring of 2020. At only 6 months old, Pickle had already been through more than most humans, let alone a dog should endure. Left to starve to death in an abandoned building somehow he found his way to our rescue and so began the journey of real dedication, real patience and real Bro Love.
Pickle was a super special needs Chiweenie with a laundry list of medical issues that no ordinary person wanted to deal with. In fact, Pickle was returned twice to our rescue before finally becoming a permanent resident of Small But Mighty. With his eating disorder, paraphimosis, quirky habits, stubborn personality, loud bark, signature ears and complete adoration for Scott, his human, Pickle stole the hearts of many followers.
For 4.5 years, Scott dedicated his time and energy to hand feeding Pickle, every single day, taking him on countless vet visits and more than a handful of emergency trips. See, Scott loved Pickle and wanted nothing more than to make him healthy. But Pickle's medical mysteries were not easy to crack.
On November 16, 2025, Pickle suffered a major seizure that no amount of medical intervention could fix. Pickle passed away at only 4.5 years old. And Scott and Liz were devasted. To say the least.
Pickle IS the heart and soul of Small But Mighty. Pickle is a testament that special needs means special love and special gifts. Pickle will remain forever in our hearts as a reminder that all dogs are beautiful, special, and we humans, are honored to have them in our lives.
Pickle is Small But Mighty and we will always love and cherish our time together. Always.

Personality
Chis are NOT all the same. Some are shy, some are out going, some are independent, some are dependent. That's why it's important to find the RIGHT Chi for you. One thing for sure, they are ALL big personalities in little bodies.

Daily Responsibility
Even though you might want to carry your Chi around in your bag, they ALL still need exercise. All dogs should be taken on walks, socialized and excercised EVERYDAY! If you can't afford the time or the money to make this happen, don't get a dog.

Care
Just like any dog, routine Vet visits are required. Chis are prone to teeth and knee issues. As for grooming, some shed A LOT and some shed very little so it depends on your specific Chi how much care is required. Most need very little professional grooming. When it comes to food, there are many out there that are good. Ask your Vet for a specific recommendation.
